STEPS TO BECOMING A HOCKEY COACH
COMPLETE AN APPLICATION
Complete the RWAHA coach's application form and return it to the Coaching Committee Chair. Applications will be reviewed and recommendations brought to the Board of Directors for final approval.
COMPLETE THE USA HOCKEY REQUIREMENTS
USA Hockey and the Coaching Education Program require both certification and registration to be eligible to coach. Registration is done online on an annual basis. Steps are as follows:
- Register with USA Hockey
- Complete the required background screening - Before October 1st
- Complete the required SafeSport training - Before October 1st
- Complete the appropriate Age-Specific Training Module
- Complete Proper Clinic Level before Dec. 31
- CEP requirements must be completed by December 31st... NO EXCEPTIONS! Classes fill up quickly so don't delay in registering when they are posted.
- Complete the Coach Concussion Certification. (This is required every other year!) - Before October 1st **See attachment below**
RWAHA REIMBURSES COACHES FOR THE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH BECOMING FULLY REGISTERED, TRAINED AND ELIGIBLE TO COACH WHICH INCLUDE AND ARE LIMITED TO REGISTERING WITH USA HOCKEY, BACKGROUND SCREENING, AGE SPECIFIC MODULES, AND CEP CLINIC. ON ICE PARTICIPATION IS REQUIRED. REIMBURSEMENT IS PAID AFTER DECEMBER 31ST AND ONLY WITH RECEIPTS.
